The Story Behind Our Vision
Yuki Tanaka
After years of living in compact London apartments, Yuki Tanaka recognized the challenge of finding furniture that truly fit small spaces while maintaining aesthetic integrity.
Born in Kyoto and having studied traditional Japanese carpentry, Yuki brought a deep appreciation for the principles of Wabi-Sabi and space optimization to the United Kingdom. The journey began in 2018 when, frustrated by the limitations of standard-sized furniture in her own 35-square-metre flat, she designed her first custom storage bed.
This initial creation sparked a realization: small spaces weren't constraints to work around, but opportunities to embrace intentional design. Drawing from Japanese interior philosophy that finds beauty in necessity and values every centimetre, Yuki established comfortchcraft with a clear mission.
Today, the studio continues to honour these principles, creating furniture that doesn't just fit into small spaces but enhances them. Each piece reflects the belief that thoughtful design can transform compact living into a meaningful, harmonious experience.
